The national athletes added two more bronze medals in the third day of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, Thailand 2025 through the men's kumite category. The karate event took place at Ratthaprasasanaphakdi Building, Government Complex, Chaeng Watthana.
The national athlete, Awangku Ahmad Munib Aiman Pengiran Haji Md Hasimuddin was competing first in the third quarter of Kumite under 55 kilogrammes against Sengdaovong Thatsaphone from Laos. The national athlete WON 8 - 0 and advanced to the semi-final.
In the semi-final, Awangku Ahmad Munib Aiman LOST 11 - 2 to Kaliana Sundram Thevendran from Malaysia. With the result, Awangku Ahmad Munib Aiman bagged the bronze medal. Gold medal went to Malaysian athlete, while silver went to Viet nam. Brunei Darussalam's athlete and the host, Thailand shared the bronze medal.
The country gained its second bronze through the karate event - Kumite under 60 kilogrammes. In the semi-final, Muhammad Harith Dahlan LOST 3 - 4 to Lachica John Christian of the Philippines and advance to the repechage stage to determine the bronze medal.
In the repechage stage, the national athlete displayed an excellent performance with a victory of 6 - 0 against Chanthavixay Anothai of Laos. Muhammad Harith Dahlan and a Malaysian athlete won the bronze together. The host, Thailand won the gold medal and silver went to the Philippines.
